Engineering Graduate Programme

This exciting Engineering graduate development programme is designed to create the next generation of aspiring technical experts, specialists and leaders for Hitachi Rail in the UK. We look for people with a passion for engineering, an inquisitive mind and an intrinsic interest in people, leadership and success through teamwork.

Program Structure

It is a four‑year rotational programme, split into two halves. For the first two years you will complete four or six‑month placements, rotating across Hitachi Rail sites around the country and across the different business areas. You will experience the complete engineering lifecycle and will be assigned to a new or existing programme where you will work with other engineers to design and develop engineering solutions to meet the needs of our customers.>During the second part of the scheme you will complete a further two, one‑year long placements to allow you to start building and consolidating your knowledge in your chosen area. Throughout your time on the programme you will be under the sponsorship and guidance of the Engineering Leadership team.

Location & Flexibility

Flexibility on your location is required for this role; your main sites will be in London and there may be an opportunity to relocate to Manchester.

Educational Requirements

• Software, Systems, Electronics, Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering
• AI, Machine Learning and Cybernetics
• Cyber Security (with systems engineering interest) or wider security
• Mathematics
• Computer or Data Science
• All applicable technical or related degrees will be considered
