Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Cleaning Operative who thrives in a fast‑paced environment. The position is based in Edinburgh at the Craigentinny Train Maintenance Centre. The role is permanent and works nights.
Accountabilities:
- Clean Hitachi Rail customers’ rolling‑stock vehicles and TMC facilities to the highest possible standard in accordance with cleaning manuals.
- Complete general duties, varying in complexity, within agreed time frames.
- Ensure all work is carried out to the highest possible standard.
- Complete all relevant records associated with work.
- Maintain awareness of Health & Safety requirements and attend required training.
- Participate in Hitachi Rail centrally driven activities.
- Adhere to Hitachi Rail Europe’s policies and procedures.
- Implement Hitachi Rail Health and Safety policy.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as per business requirements.
Required Skills / Knowledge:
- Pass a local track safety test and a drink and drug test to work safely in the TMC environment.
- Willingness to learn new things and take pride in work.
- Strong understanding of English with effective oral and written communication.
- Commitment to working as part of a team in a respectful and professional manner.
- Understanding of Health and Safety requirements in a working environment.
- Active promotion and implementation of Hitachi’s ethos, culture and values.
Desired Skills / Knowledge:
- At least 1 year of cleaning experience, preferably within a similar environment (full training is provided).
- BICS training.
- Previous Health and Safety awareness training.
