About the role: The Business Intelligence Project Manager will lead end‑to‑end planning and project control of business intelligence projects globally within our rail business. The role is part of the Digital & AI workstream, supporting the global digital transformation team.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Support the Head of Business Intelligence in creating, updating, and delivering BI projects and objectives.
- Engage proactively with internal customers to understand requirements, facilitate user interaction, and champion BI adoption across the UK rail business.
- Respond to planned and ad‑hoc development and information requests.
- Identify and pursue project, growth, and development opportunities for the BI team, building strong relationships with key departments.
- Create, maintain, and manage BI project plans; monitor delays, resources, and critical path issues, escalating to the Head of BI as required.
- Monitor BI development and support resources to ensure timely delivery, prioritising work where needed.
- Report project risks, issues, and opportunities.
- Collaborate with the BI team to promote effective development and efficient use of shared data.
- Follow the BI development best‑practice framework for planning and implementation.
- Support business analysis and process‑mapping activities to define information requirements and document BI specifications.
- Ensure compliance with Hitachi data governance principles and controls.
- Lead the creation and maintenance of data catalogues/dictionaries, ensuring standardised terminology and semantics across all report content.
About You:
- Comprehensive understanding of project management and planning principles.
- Experience in planning and managing projects.
- Competent user of Power BI and Oracle P6.
- Understanding of data governance and BI best practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales.
- Professional, confident, pro‑active, and self‑motivated with good timekeeping.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Good report‑writing skills.

Qualifications:
- Degree level in Business, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
