Accountabilities In this role, you will be driving, replenishing, and servicing trains, as well as supporting maintenance staff with corrective and preventative maintenance of Hitachi rolling stock assets. This is a permanent role working on a rotating shift basis. Specifically, your responsibilities will include: Undertaking train movements under the control of the PIC (Person in Charge), driving trains within the Train Maintenance Centre. Servicing trains arriving from service, including replenishing Diesel, Ad-Blu, fresh water, windscreen wash, sand hoppers, and toilet system servicing. Recording all servicing activities and materials used in the maintenance management system (MMS). Monitoring the Maintenance Management System (SAP) to ensure accurate recording of all work. Performing daily checks of service spine equipment and maintaining a tidy/clean area. Reporting defects to the Refuelling Team Leader/Duty Shift Manager and recording them in MMS. Supporting maintenance staff with corrective and preventative maintenance, fault finding, and repairs. Contributing to the development of the MMS to ensure all servicing requirements are captured and fulfilled. Controlling and recording fluid and material usage, ensuring proper labelling and processes for materials returned to stores. Adhering to lean principles, best practices, and supporting other locations as necessary. Helping ensure the contractual availability of trains for service. About you Required Skills/Knowledge Experience supporting a maintenance team in a modern rolling stock depot or similar environment. Safety awareness in operational railway settings. Understanding of safe systems of work. Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions. Experience with modern maintenance management systems (MMS) and trend analysis. Manual handling, COSHH, working at height, and experience with powered tools and plant. An engineering background is preferable. Behavioural Ability to work independently or within a team. Knowledge of and compliance with rules and regulations. Professional representation of Hitachi. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Effective interfacing with personnel at all levels. Loyalty, commitment, confidence, and determination. Desired Skills (not essential) Basic IT skills. First Aid certification. Experience operating refuelling points for rolling stock. Knowledge of Depot Protection systems.
