Location - Regional - can be based within: Edinburgh, Newcastle, Liverpool, Leeds, Doncaster, London, York (East Coast Main Line)

Your new role

Outstation Managers are responsible for delivering operational requirements as defined in Hitachi Train Service Agreements (TSA’s) and ensuring the delivery of all contracted 3rd party services to the required standard in-line with service level agreements contained within the Depot Access Agreements (DAA’s). Outstation managers will have line management responsibility for Outstation Team Leaders and provide operational support and engagement to our customers, inline with Hitachi Rail's vision and objectives.

  • Ensure delivery of all contracted services in-line with the TSA & DAA’s.
  • Monitor the outputs from third party depots to ensure that the standards associated with the Train Service Agreement (TSA) and subsequent schedules within each DAA is delivered.
  • Develop the capabilities of the Outstation Team Leaders to enable them to manage and develop their local teams so they are able to achieve the standards required and deliver on our outstation operational requirements.
  • Liaise with 3rd party depots and be the main point of contact for operations with our customers.
  • Represent Hitachi Rail at performance review meetings with 3rd parties where DAA performance and delivery should be monitored.
  • Ensure that 3rd parties have the required resources within their organisation in order to meet the DAA deliverables.
  • Develop action plans with our suppliers/customers to improve performance.
  • Regularly review outstation capabilities, always looking for areas to improve our operational delivery.
  • Ensure all materials, tooling and equipment used are correctly specified to ensure a safe and compliant product is delivered in line with the TSA.
  • Ensure all responsible locations are ready and able to respond effectively in the event that an incident occurs; this should be managed through regular reviews of Contingency Response Planning.
  • Hold periodic meetings with key internal stakeholders from Materials, Quality, HSE, and Production to ensure that outstations are always able to deliver their operational requirements.
  • Support the contracts and commercial teams in understanding and detailing operational challenges that result in none delivery of the DAA’s.
  • Carry out audits as required by Hitachi processes and procedures.
  • Support customer audits and act as the main point of contact with our suppliers.
  • Assist in the development of SAP and SOROS (or other Maintenance Management Systems) for third party suppliers to deliver our DAA requirements.
  • Learn new skills in accordance with Hitachi changes in business demands.
  • Assist Head of Outstations as required.

About you

  • Relevant Degree, HND or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of managing 3rd party suppliers delivering contractual obligations.
  • Experienced in Rolling Stock Maintenance Engineering.
  • Familiar with Engineering and Logistics support systems such as Fleet Management, Maintenance Management Systems and rolling stock diagnostics systems.
  • A sound understanding of Logistics Support and Supply Chain requirements.
  • Able to build and manage budgets inline with contractual obligations and business requirements.
  • Experience in auditing and developing audit schedules.
