Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager – GI Service IE/UK.
To join our team, you will be part of HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) technology, solutions for energy transfer, and be part of sustaining long‑term sustainable solutions.
Project management on several large, critical infrastructure HVDC sites across Ireland and the UK.
Responsibilities
- liaise with each project team and technical specialists to complete projects and ensure synergy within each of the project deliverables.
- define scope of a project, create and manage the project plan, identify key stakeholders, manage the budget, ensure work is compliant with security standards, and complete the project within the deadline.
- plan and schedule; jointly with the Project Controls department, define all project plan documents, including scope and financial plans, schedule, and risk management plans.
- implement project execution and control; ensure that the project follows execution best practices and Hitachi Energy policies.
- effectively monitor and control project progress and efficient resource utilization.
- monitor and control project financials, overseeing invoicing status, cost, expenses, and cash flow.
- identify, qualify, quantify, and manage project risks, and ensure that all opportunities are identified and pursued.
- capture, analyze, and share lessons learned throughout the project.
- ensure formal closure of the project, as contractually agreed.
- drive the formal acceptance of the project, contract close‑out, and its acknowledgement by the customer.
- contract claims and procurement management; ensure consistent application of contract and claims management in accordance with policies and contractual agreements.
- coordinate with Supply Chain Management and procure required services, materials, and equipment from external and internal suppliers.
- support Supply Chain Management in supplier negotiations, claims and project changes.
- act as key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues; build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
- ensure compliance with company health, safety, and environmental policies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in project management (or equivalent) with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Proven project management experience, including scope, scheduling, cost control, procurement, quality assurance, and vendor/subcontractor management.
- Strong leadership, planning, and organisational skills, with ability to coordinate remote teams, prioritise workloads, manage competing demands, and deliver to deadlines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with strong customer focus and experience delivering client‑focused solutions.
- Self‑motivated and proactive, able to work independently, under pressure, and within a results‑driven team environment.
- High levels of professionalism, integrity, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of cyber‑security processes and procedures; experience with control, protection, and cyber systems is advantageous but not essential.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA is desirable.
- Previous experience within critical infrastructure environments is desirable.
- Some travel will be required; a full clean driving license is essential.
