Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity as a Health & Safety Manager reporting to the UK Operating Unit Manager. You will be a senior member of the Management Team where the HSE Manager's role will focus on the strategic objectives of the Hitachi Energy UK Grids & Power Quality Solutions & Service (GPQSS) business, ensuring that the highest standards of health, safety quality and environmental performance are achieved, monitored & maintained while driving continuous improvement in all areas of Hitachi Energy activities. You will collaborate with all parts of Hitachi Energy including the European organisation, other business unit work streams and UK Leadership teams.
Please note we are unable to provide visa sponsorship on this position (including post graduate visa). The role is hybrid and will be based in Birmingham City Centre with a requirement to travel to Project Sites and Client Offices in the UK & Europe depending on specific requirements.
How you'll make an impact
- Lead the development of Hitachi Energy UK GPQSS HSE policies & processes consistent with Legislation, Hitachi Energy UK, GPQSS Group and ESI / Construction Industry best practice.
- Management of a team of HSE professionals providing support to the Grid Integration business.
- Define, document, maintain and continuously improve the Hitachi Energy UK GPQSS Integrated Business Management System(s).
- Provide cost effective specialist HSE support and advice to tendering and project delivery teams throughout the project life cycle.
- Define and maintain the training & competency records for Hitachi Energy UK GPQSS staff.
- Manage internal service for audit of projects and departmental processes to monitor performance & identify areas for improvement.
- Lead on the development of HSE performance improvement strategies and campaigns linked to key business objectives & targets for implementation internally & through supply chain partners.
- Produce monthly HSE KPIs and management information for review and action by GPQSS management team.
- Conduct annual performance review process for each report, ensuring that the performance of the team is managed effectively, and development needs are identified and satisfied appropriately.
- Will represent Hitachi Energy UK GPQSS in Tender support and project activities with external Clients.
- Represent Hitachi Energy UK GPQSS in non-project specific Client activities where required.
- Will represent Hitachi Energy UK GPQSS in support of BUs engaging in activities in the UK promoting the 'One Hitachi' principle.
Qualifications
- HSE professional with construction project experience.
- Qualified to Diploma level in HSE Management.
- Organizational & communication skills.
- Conversant with relevant ISO & OHSAS standards.
- Suitably qualified and experienced in the operation & management of quality and business management systems.
- Chartered member of IOSH.
- Computer literate & proficient IT skills.
- High voltage experience, desirable.
- Experience in Line Management and development of staff.
