Job Description:

The opportunity

Hitachi Energy UK – GPQS currently have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join the business as a Business Financial Analyst. This role requires the successful individual to support the GPQS FP&A and Project Controlling functions. There is a further requirement to support the wider PGGI businesses as required. These constitute the HVDC, HVDC Service and Consulting businesses.

How you\’ll make an impact

Roughly the split between the supporting FP&A and Project Controlling is likely to be 60/40 respectively, but this will vary monthly. Development and progress is expected to be through the Project Controlling function. The FP&A function provides an excellent basic understanding of key controlling principles which will support development in the Project Controlling function. The expectation is that the successful candidate will move full time into the Project Controlling function after a suitable time learning the basics.

We will support you to become professionally registered with the appropriate institution and provide you with a mentor throughout your development program.

FP&A (Financial Planning & Accounting)

Directly reporting to the Business Controller, you will support the Business Controller to ensure the FP&A function runs smoothly.

This role will require, you to be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Managing the monthly Timesheet process; dealing with Queries associated with time bookings; setting up of New Activity Types; updating rates.
  • Managing any master Data Requests, typically New Cost Centre, New Activity Types, etc.
  • Managing the INOPC and SKOPC time booking (HE Time Bookers in India and Slovakia).
  • Journal Posting
  • Controlling Journals such as the CATA journal for timesheet posting.
  • Managing the Hosted Head recharging process
  • Cost Centre Overhead Queries
  • Uploading once a year the budgeted overheads
  • Managing the SAP role request and role change process
  • Lease analysis
  • Setting Up of Internal Orders and ensuring the correct accounting settlement rules
  • FX / Hedge Reporting
  • Manage the CIT process and Intra/Inter Company Invoices
  • Supporting the GPQS Projects Business Unit Controller and the other PGGI Business Controllers with ad hoc activities and tasks

Project Controlling

You will be working on real projects, and wherever you are working you will be contributing from your first day and be able to demonstrate your skills, abilities, motivation, and commitment, making a positive contribution to the company\’s bottom line.

This role will require, you to be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Small projects/ FEED studies those that do not need a formal project review.
  • Invoicing for small projects
  • Customer/Vendor data
  • Project Journals
  • Project Closures
  • Warranty Projects and review meetings
  • Project Working Papers: Rolling over of project working papers; Downloading of core data/IPE; Updating the core data.
  • Invoicing/Credit Control: Raising of project invoices; Review of customer accounts; Debtors meeting.
  • ZPROJ access: providing access to plants in SAP.
  • Warranty Register of PAC/FAC Retention release Dates; follow up on retention invoicing. Maintenance of folder of all PAC certificates within the finance drive.
  • Supporting the Project Controllers and the Cluster Lead with ad hoc activities and tasks.

  • Degree qualification or equivalent in Finance, Business or similar
  • Good teamwork skills with the ability to work within a multi-national, multi-cultural team.
  • Analytical and Capable of working to tight time scales.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
