In the role as a substation automation Tendering Specialist, you will be part of our Grid Automation Europe tendering team within the Hitachi Energy Group.
The tendering organisation is truly international and located in various locations across Europe and supported by our dedicated team in India.
We operate in a dynamic and growing market and are now seeking to strengthen the team with an experienced tendering professional here in the UK.
In this role you are responsible for leading tenders from the initial requirements to contract closing, and handover to our operations team.
The activities include creating and completing bids/estimations/quotations based on our customer’s technical specifications and commercial requirements.
You will ensure that in delivering high-quality tenders we achieve both market competitiveness and profitable business.
Your field of operation will be in the substation market, and you will have the opportunity to handle a variety of tenders in our customer markets.
The focus will be on our project business developing offers for substation automation systems, protection and control, SCADA, communication networks and security, and may also include associated service offerings.
- How You’ll Make An Impact
- Creation of commercially, legally, and technically optimised and high-quality offers, based on the specifications of our customer
- Definition and scope of the supply to be offered
- Close cooperation with the supply chain management to capture quotations from other suppliers and subcontractors
- Cost calculation estimations and determination of costs, margins and sales price in cooperation with our sales team
- Contribute to the consideration of the risks to our business in conducting the proposed works.
- Tender planning and on time tender submittals.
- Provide technical support to our sales team during the early pursuit stages as well as support them in contract negotiations
- Preparation of tendering documents and reports for internal reviews and tender submission approvals.
- Interact and work collaboratively with our European & Indian tendering teams, internal operational team and factory units.
- Background
- Higher education (e. g., bachelor's or master’s degree) in electrical engineering or a related field
- Excellent understanding of substation automation, control, and protection solutions
- Good knowledge of the UK power systems and preferably grid automation systems market
- Previous professional experience and a good track record with a similar business area
- Strong understanding and previous experience of tendering and commercial process
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiations skills.
