Hitachi Energy is looking to hire a Senior Protection Engineer to design and produce high‑quality protection engineering solutions for Hitachi Energy as we respond to a rapidly developing renewable energy sector. You’ll use your knowledge and expertise to understand customer specifications and identify improvements, whilst maximizing efficiency and minimizing project risk.
How You'll Make An Impact
- Prepare functional design specifications and project scope documents
- Prepare protection designs for production and manufacturing
- Protection product selection, IED configurations, and protection IEC61850 engineering
- Developing new protection solutions encompassing the full development cycle control (concept design to delivery)
- Type registration and product approval – combining engineering and documentation
- Provide technical support during the pre-FAT and FAT stages, handling installation and commissioning activities
- Assist in preparing proposal/presentation of engineering projects/programs (provision of bills of materials, estimated engineering hours, etc.)
- Commercial awareness and support project management in issuing claims (new/change in scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications, etc.)
Your Background
- 5+ years within the electrical engineering sector, particularly the grid automation sector
- Strong foundation in transmission of transmission (within the energy sector)
- HND or a Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Membership (or working towards membership) of a relevant professional body, eg, CEng
- Strong design capability and experience in the engineering discipline of Power Systems
- Project coordination and operates well within a team
- Fluent in both spoken and written English, and good communication skills
