A hands-on, people-first HR role for a developing HRBP. Are you an emerging HR professional (Associate CIPD or newly qualified MCIPD) who wants to build real business partner capability in a practical, people-focused environment? Hitachi Energy’s UK & Ireland Service business is looking for a grounded, thoughtful HRBP who brings strong ER expertise, solid UK/IE employment law knowledge, and a genuine passion for shaping culture.
You’ll support a mix of office-based teams, field engineers, and technical specialists in a fast-paced, technical business environment, across the UK and Ireland. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants exposure, variety, and real impact on our business and most importantly, our people.
The Opportunity
This role is ideal if you have strong foundations in ER and are ready to step confidently into advising leaders — but you’re also open, curious, and eager to learn. We’re looking for someone who understands that HR is about building capability, supporting a positive culture, and enabling managers to lead well, not about rigidly applying process.
As part of this role, you’ll also be working closely with the Europe HRBP for Service on a number of key projects and initiatives across the region, giving you development, coaching, and visibility across a critical part of our business. Candidates must have full right to work in either UK or Ireland. No visa support or relocation will be provided. Close proximity to either our Dublin or Stone (Stafford) locations is required.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Be a pragmatic, people-centred advisor.
- Provide clear, grounded guidance to managers, with an emphasis on understanding context, supporting good judgement, and handling ER matters in a fair, balanced, and human way.
- Support a culture of good leadership, not discipline-first thinking.
- Help leaders build trust, improve team dynamics, and address issues early, preventing the need for formal processes unless absolutely needed.
- Partner with operational managers and field teams.
- Gain deep insight into how our Service business works and support leaders who manage technicians, engineers, and customer-facing teams.
- Deliver core HR processes with clarity and simplicity.
- Take ownership of talent cycles, performance reviews, development conversations, succession planning, and organisational changes, partnering with COEs where appropriate, without blurring boundaries.
- Guide leaders through change.
- Bring steadiness, empathy, and communication skills to help teams navigate transformation and new ways of working.
- Apply your UK/IE employment law knowledge confidently.
- Offer robust, business-oriented advice that protects both the company and its people.
- Champion inclusion and belonging.
- Help shape a culture where everyone — including underrepresented groups in technical environments — feels included and supported.
Your Background
- Associate CIPD or newly qualified MCIPD, with ambition to grow into a strong, business focussed HRBP.
- Analytical and data-driven, with sharp attention to detail, enjoying the data side as much as the people side of the role.
- Solid grounding in employee relations and strong knowledge of UK and Irish employment law.
- Someone who values people, fairness, and culture, not a disciplinaries-first mindset.
- Practical and solutions-focused, able to simplify complex issues for managers.
- Comfortable partnering with leaders in a technical, engineering-heavy, site-based environment.
- Curious, collaborative, and motivated to learn from senior HRBPs and COEs.
- Able to work with pace and handle the variety that comes with a service-based business.
What’s In It For You

- The chance to shape culture in an operational, engineering-led environment where HR makes a visible difference.
