Hitachi Energy is entering an exciting phase of growth in our UK Service organisation, and we’re looking for a Tendering Manager that will play a crucial role in achieving our service ambitions. You will be able to make a real impact by leveraging your technical and strategic expertise to ensure we are well prepared for our Service activities. You will lead a team of Service tender specialists and at the same time be the interface with respect to technical requirements, commercial, contract administration and quantitative risk analysis. You will provide ongoing support to the sales team by chairing meetings, taking ownership and responding to all Tender questions related to service activities. This is a role for someone who enjoys leading people, writing engaging tenders influencing stakeholders and creating value over the full asset lifecycle.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Support, lead and coach a team of high performing tender specialists to draft the highest quality tender submittals.
  • Timely creation of tenders and proposals based on customers ITT’s, RFQ’s, specifications and designs.
  • Evaluation of client enquiry documentation and interpretation of their requirements, and assessment of commercial terms and conditions.
  • Formulate competitive bids/estimates/quotations, considering the best available Service/product mix and appropriate technical and commercial considerations for each individual site/situation.
  • Manage the preparation of all technical, financial and operational delivery aspects of the bid/estimate/quotation, indicating prices and trading conditions.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities in contract agreements across customers/channels.
  • Identify potential vendors for equipment and materials required in the project and evaluate supplier offers to match specifications in collaboration with Supply Chain Management.
  • Establish and maintain effective customer relationships to understand customer needs.
  • Provide any necessary technical support to Sales Managers during meetings with customers.
  • Develop and identify client requirements, liaising with internal and external suppliers with close liaison with Sales, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Planning, Engineering and Commercial functions.

Your background:

  • Self-starter with a track record in building, leading and coaching teams.
  • Proven experience in a related position within the energy transition industry and service tendering knowledge is essential.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Industry sector knowledge desired, ideally across Datacenters, Renewables, Power Quality and substation design experience desired.
  • Experience of contract terms and conditions, NEC3/4, FIDIC beneficial.
