Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity as a Global Media Relations Manager. We are looking for someone who is inspired to manage and build leading media relations and thought leadership to support business priorities and growth. You'll be reporting to the Global Head of External & Crisis Communications and be responsible for implementing global media relations strategy and initiatives.

How You'll Make An Impact

  • Build effective global media relations and thought leadership content to support business objectives.
  • Identify and develop earned media opportunities in key global tier 1 and trades, manage outreach and engagements.
  • Cultivate, maintain, and develop relationships with global media contacts to increase awareness of Hitachi Energy amongst key global tier 1 media and trades.
  • Develop and proactively pitch stories to target media and secure coverage.
  • Develop compelling media content (press releases, statements, op-eds, messages etc.) through storytelling that can also be amplified across multiple external communications channels.
  • Train and prepare spokespeople for media engagements including drafting briefing documents, talking points, key messages, and facilitate prep sessions prior to each engagement.
  • Manage schedules and track upcoming opportunities for media engagement/outreach, develop content and ensure advance planning.
  • Manage media campaigns at high-profile events i.e. World Economic Forum, COP etc.
  • Work closely and collaborate with peers and key stakeholders across the company, business units, regions/countries to develop strategies and content relevant for the global media.
  • Measure KPIs and provide regular media reports, analyse coverage and brand awareness.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of industry and key trends and make appropriate recommendations to continuously improve media relations strategies.
  • Manage and work with external PR agencies and partners as necessary.
  • Support external communications in strategic company and special projects.
  • Identify potential risks and take proactive measures to protect the company’s reputation, including crisis communications.

Requirements

  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, Marketing or other relevant related discipline.
  • 8-10 years of relevant international experience in media relations and high-profile campaigns with proven track record of pitching and securing global tier 1 media coverage.
  • Experience managing media activities for a complex organization, with the ability to handle fast-paced issues under pressure and meet tight deadlines effectively.
  • Expertise in managing integrated PR campaigns that generate impactful coverage and bring a strong network of media contacts.
  • Exceptional communication skills, in particular simplifying complex, technical topics for a broad audience.
  • Experience with the energy and/or technology sector.
  • Deep understanding of the global media landscape, current and developing strategies for communicating effectively in a continually and rapidly evolving media environment.
  • Experience building and nurturing relationships with key media outlets and influencers.
