Join to apply for the Tendering Engineer High Voltage role at Hitachi Energy. Hitachi Energy is hiring a Tendering Engineer for the entire High Voltage Portfolio. The role is based in our new office in Birmingham or can be remote-based, with regular contact with the team, wider business and customers. You will maximize Hitachi Energy's market potential and opportunity by liaising with potential clients to secure business, agreeing on the scope of work, preparing costings, interfacing with tendering, operations and our technical team. You will support our High Voltage Products Market Manager and Tendering Manager in implementing the sales and marketing strategies and overseeing allocated sales and tendering activities to drive sales and increase market share.
Responsibilities
- Be part of the team to drive the High Voltage Products business through sales and tendering.
- Implement the local product marketing strategy by visiting potential clients to present the offering, agree on client requirements, product value propositions, and product positioning, and tender a defined scope.
- Involve in market analyses with the Sales team, responsible for forecasts and detailed business/marketing plans for allocated portfolio areas.
- Achieve business targets through regular review of sales and tendering activities and implementation of improvement/focus plans as needed.
- Undertake tendering activities to support the business, ensuring involvement of the overall team to provide a cost‑effective offering that meets client expectations and delivers added value.
- Understand customer service principles and their effect on the business.
- Strengthen the customer relationship through sales visits, market communications, and local account management.
- Ensure sustainable growth targets are achieved.
- Ensure compliance with Quality Management System, Safety Procedures, Accountancy Policies and approval procedures.
- Live core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for colleagues and the business.
Qualifications
- A Degree in Engineering or similar.
- Experience in sales and/or tendering in the power engineering industry, preferably with a focus on high‑voltage equipment.
- Experience in tendering for GIS (Gas‑Insulated Switchgear) is highly appreciated.
- Passion for sales in a technical setting, with knowledge and experience of sales and marketing tools such as Salesforce and digital marketing tools – LinkedIn Sales Navigator and similar are necessary.
- A result‑driven candidate who can work both as an individual and as part of a team, with strong planning and execution ability.
- A collaborative, solutions‑oriented approach with strong communication and customer‑relationship‑building skills.
