OSS Technician
Location: Birmingham, England, United Kingdom
Job schedule: Full time
Office-based with travel to Stafford and Glasgow as needed
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve IT‑related hardware and software issues efficiently.
- Ensure user computers are delivered in a ready‑to‑use condition.
- Provide ad‑hoc training to users on common issues and self‑service tools.
- Manage the physical stock of devices and accessories, updating the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
- Conduct regular inventory checks for relevant hardware.
- Coordinate logistics for transporting and relocating devices between locations.
- Handle warranty cases in collaboration with OEM vendors.
- Identify and report risks that could impact OSS service quality.
- Offer support to end users and maintain IT equipment and software functionality in meeting rooms and collaboration areas.
- Perform routine checks of computer rooms, monitoring temperature, air conditioning, cabling, and general functionality.
- Adhere to OSS governance, including participation in meetings and following escalation processes.
- Follow OSS procedures as outlined in Runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge articles.
Qualifications
- Formal qualification in IT from an accredited university or college, or completion of an IT apprenticeship.
- Excellent communication skills in written and verbal form, with the ability to engage both business and technical audiences in both the local language and English.
- Proactive and solution‑oriented mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and self‑drive tasks.
- Legal authorization to work in the United Kingdom.
