As the Global Crisis Communications Specialist / Manager for Hitachi Energy, you will be working in a hands-on and operational role with responsibility for handling communications related to incidents to mitigate potential impact for the company and affected stakeholders. You will also manage global crisis communications to safeguard the company's reputation in sensitive or crisis situations. Reporting to the Global Head of Public Relations and Content Strategy, you will work closely with the Crisis Management team and the Head of Crisis Management. Additionally, you will collaborate with the PR & Content team outside of crisis periods.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all global incident and crisis communications activities in collaboration with the crisis management team, including planning, execution, and follow-up.
- Coordinate communication efforts across departments and stakeholders during crises, ensuring consistent messaging and conducting post-crisis evaluations.
- Develop crisis communication plans, protocols, and identify potential risks.
- Stay informed on emerging trends related to crisis topics to inform response strategies.
- Manage crisis communication guidance, processes, activities, and build related tools, templates, and trainings.
- Provide crisis communication training to management and communication teams.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of crisis communication activities against KPIs and report outcomes.
- Write and review playbooks, statements, and QAs aligned with key messaging during high-pressure situations.
- Ensure clear information flow and alignment within the crisis team.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support daily PR & content activities outside of crisis situations.
Requirements:
- Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, Marketing, or related discipline.
- Proven experience in global communications with a focus on crisis, media, and content.
- Experience in the energy or technology sectors.
- Experience with cybersecurity crisis communications is preferred.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills.
- Knowledge of media and communication channels.
- Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders under pressure.
- Exceptional English writing skills, with ability to research, write, fact-check, and edit communication pieces with minimal supervision.
