The role

  • Design, configure, and maintain APC solutions for paper & pulp processes including digester control, bleaching, drying, and stock preparation.
  • Collaborate with OEM vendors to implement and optimize APC algorithms.
  • Monitor APC system performance, drive continuous improvement, and lead integration initiatives.
  • Integrate APC platforms with industrial OT systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA) and enterprise IT systems (MES, ERP, Historian).
  • Develop and maintain secure data exchange interfaces such as APIs, OPC UA/DA, and real‐time analytics pipelines.
  • Work closely with process engineers, IT, cybersecurity, and OEM partners to ensure system compliance with industry standards and cybersecurity protocols.
  • Train plant personnel on APC usage and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure documentation of system architecture, configurations, and integration workflows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Control, Automation, or related field.
  • 5+ years of APC implementation experience in paper & pulp or similar process industries.
  • Proficiency with APC platforms such as Honeywell Profit Controller, ABB OPT800, Aspen DMCplus.
  • Experience with OT/IT integration technologies (OPC, MQTT, REST APIs, edge computing).
  • Familiarity with industrial protocols and cybersecurity standards (ISA‐95, ISA/IEC 62443).
  • Experience with cloud‐based industrial platforms (Azure IoT, AWS IoT, GE Predix).
  • Knowledge of data analytics tools (Python, R, Power BI) for process optimization.
  • Relevant certifications in APC or industrial automation platforms.
