We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Senior Mechanical Integration Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced engineering environment. Based in Newton Aycliffe, you will play a key role in shaping the integration of advanced rolling stock systems, ensuring designs move seamlessly from concept through to manufacture. This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale, high-profile rail projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and international colleagues to deliver innovative and reliable engineering solutions.
Some Key Responsibilities
- Carry out 3D mechanical integration analysis across train components, producing clear and actionable reports
- Lead the development and integration of mechanical systems, including supplier collaboration and co-design activities
- Manage and maintain the full train digital mock-up in 3D CAD environments
- Develop and oversee tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure successful system integration
- Produce full train assembly drawings to support manufacturing processes
- Design mechanical components such as frames, brackets, and supporting structures
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners to deliver engineering excellence
About You
You are a driven engineer with a passion for solving complex challenges and delivering high-quality results in a collaborative environment.
Essential
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical background
- Strong experience with 3D CAD tools (e.g. Creo, CATIA, Autodesk)
- Ability to work independently and adapt in a dynamic, fast-changing environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines
- Proficiency in standard engineering and office tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
Desirable
- Knowledge of railway vehicle systems and integration principles
- Familiarity with engineering processes and requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS)
- Understanding of rail standards and regulations
- Passion for the rail industry and continuous improvement
- Willingness to travel occasionally for business requirements
