Location: Penzance, Cornwall, UK

Salary: £43,696 + 15% shift allowance. Full-time, permanent contract, no remote work. Schedule: rotating day and night shifts, 24/7 roster, no more than 60-minute commute.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled maintenance on Class800 rolling stock for the Intercity Express Program on the GWR West Main Line.
  • Undertake servicing, preparation and driving duties within depot confines.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities for maintenance processes.
  • Support delivery of new trains and maintenance acceptance processes.
  • Complete exam tasks, undertake fault rectification or repair when required.
  • Adhere to health and safety processes and procedures.
  • Attend testing locations, main line station and outstations for preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Travel and overnight away from base location for short periods.
  • Support Maintenance Team Leaders and Shift Production Managers in delivery of production plan.
  • Record all work activities and stock consumption using the maintenance management system.
  • Assist with other responsibilities as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working a 24/7 shift roster in a modern rolling stock maintenance depot.
  • Outstanding safety awareness gained in an operational railway engineering environment.
  • Experience at stabling outstations or main line station technical support.
  • Modern fault-finding and repair techniques using pc-based laptops and remote train diagnostics.
  • Reading electrical, pneumatic, mechanical schematics and drawings.
  • Extensive experience with modern maintenance management systems (MMS) and reliability & trend analysis.
  • Experience performing modifications and campaigns on modern rolling stock.
  • Served apprenticeship with mechanical, electrical disciplines or Engineering based NVQ level 3.
  • Calm, diplomatic under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Loyal, committed, confident and determined.

Desirable Skills:

  • Investigate complex electrical and mechanical faults and write detailed reports.
  • Intermediate IT skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Train driving, fire warden, first aiders, powered plant and tools.
  • Depot Protection, Working at Height, COSHH, Manual handling, AC/DC, Depot isolation, Network Rail Sentinel PTS.
