At Hitachi Rail, we have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Driver Refueller to join our team at the Stoke Gifford Train Maintenance Centre in Bristol. This is a permanent full‑time position working on a rotating night shift basis.
Salary and Allowances: £39,772 + 15% shift allowance (£3,000) + location allowance.
Accountabilities:
- Operate under the Person in Charge to safely undertake train movements within the Train Maintenance Centre.
- Carry out train servicing activities, including diesel and AdBlue replenishment, fresh water supply, windscreen wash refilling, sand hopper replenishment, toilet servicing.
- Accurately record all servicing activities, materials and fluids used within the Maintenance Management System (MMS).
- Monitor SAP/MMS systems to ensure all maintenance activities are correctly logged.
- Perform daily checks on servicing equipment and maintain a clean and tidy work environment.
- Identify and report defects, escalating to the Refuelling Team Leader or Duty Shift Manager as required.
- Support maintenance teams with corrective and preventative maintenance, including fault finding and repairs.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the MMS system.
- Ensure all materials and fluids are correctly controlled, recorded and processed.
- Adhere to lean principles and best practices.
- Support maintenance and cleaning teams to meet train availability targets.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Experience supporting a maintenance team on a shift basis in a modern rolling stock maintenance depot environment or similar.
- Safety awareness gained in operational railway environments.
- Strong understanding of safe systems of work.
- Good communication skills, ability to carry out clear instructions.
- Experience with modern maintenance management systems (MMS) and associated reliability and availability trend analysis.
- Manual handling, COSHH, working at height, powered plant and tools – air / 110V experience.
- A level of engineering background knowledge preferable.
- Independent and team‑oriented work style.
- Strong understanding of and adherence to rules and regulations.
- Professional and positive ambassador for Hitachi Rail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to engage effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Reliable, committed, confident and proactive.
