Hitachi Energy seeks a Senior External Communications Manager to join our global communications team at BU Transformers. This role shapes the voice and visibility of a global business at the heart of the energy transition, positioning the company and its leadership as trusted, forward‑looking partners.
Responsibilities:
- Define and elevate the global voice in a rapidly evolving energy landscape.
- Lead the external communications strategy, strengthen market visibility, and support growth priorities across regions and channels.
- Elevate executive and leadership visibility through high‑impact content for senior leadership, including keynote messaging, videos, social media (LinkedIn), press materials, and media interviews.
- Translate complex technical and strategic subjects—energy transition, electrification, grid expansion, sustainability, transformer technologies—into clear, engaging, differentiated stories for external audiences.
- Partner with Business Unit leaders, Global Product Group teams, and regional communications to produce feature stories, press releases, and media content, ensuring message consistency and business unit validation across markets.
- Support key business initiatives, flagship moments, and strategic milestones (factory inaugurations, major investments, key events) with coordinated external communications.
- Act as a trusted partner in stakeholder storytelling, building trust and reinforcing long‑term partnerships through customer‑facing narratives.
- Lead crisis and issue communications, anticipate, prepare for, and manage reputational risks and crisis situations, coordinating rapid response with the crisis team, regional communications, and business stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in external communications, corporate communications, or public relations, ideally with both agency and in‑house experience in global, matrixed organisations.
- Proven expertise in media and campaign activation, with a track record of impactful media relations strategies and integrated campaigns.
- Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, able to craft clear, compelling, audience‑centric content across formats and stakeholders.
- Strategic advisor to senior leaders, comfortable coaching executives and shaping their external presence and thought‑leadership positioning.
- Highly organised, execution‑driven, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Experience in crisis communications, handling sensitive issues and delivering clear, confident communication under pressure.
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills, effective across functions, geographies, and cultures.
- Comfortable with technical and complex topics, quickly grasping industrial, technological, and sustainability concepts for external narratives.
- Passion for the energy transition and sustainability, motivated to shape the narrative around electrification, decarbonization, and future energy infrastructure.
