OSS Technician

Location: Birmingham, England, United Kingdom
Job schedule: Full time
Office-based with travel to Stafford and Glasgow as needed

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve IT‑related hardware and software issues efficiently.
  • Ensure user computers are delivered in a ready‑to‑use condition.
  • Provide ad‑hoc training to users on common issues and self‑service tools.
  • Manage the physical stock of devices and accessories, updating the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  • Conduct regular inventory checks for relevant hardware.
  • Coordinate logistics for transporting and relocating devices between locations.
  • Handle warranty cases in collaboration with OEM vendors.
  • Identify and report risks that could impact OSS service quality.
  • Offer support to end users and maintain IT equipment and software functionality in meeting rooms and collaboration areas.
  • Perform routine checks of computer rooms, monitoring temperature, air conditioning, cabling, and general functionality.
  • Adhere to OSS governance, including participation in meetings and following escalation processes.
  • Follow OSS procedures as outlined in Runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge articles.

Qualifications

  • Formal qualification in IT from an accredited university or college, or completion of an IT apprenticeship.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and verbal form, with the ability to engage both business and technical audiences in both the local language and English.
  • Proactive and solution‑oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and self‑drive tasks.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United Kingdom.
