Hitachi Energy is seeking a Market Manager for High Voltage. In this role you will lead the UK local business unit from commercial development to market positioning, acting as the key interface between the market, customers, and internal organisation, driving commercial strategy, leading the UK team, and ensuring delivery of business targets.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the UK market strategy aligned with Hub Europe objectives.
  • Drive growth initiatives and business plans across the HV portfolio.
  • Identify and develop key market segments (TSOs, DNOs, EPCs, data centres, renewables).
  • Promote the full HV portfolio (GIS, AIS, LTB, Hybrid, Power Quality, EconiQ solutions).
  • Own key customer relationships, lead complex sales processes including pricing and contractual negotiations.
  • Coordinate with sales, tendering, project management, and factories to ensure alignment.
  • Own and manage UK HV business P&L, including order intake, revenue, margin, and cash performance.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance tracking.
  • Coach and mentor sales managers and junior professionals, fostering growth and accountability.
  • Purchase materials, goods & services and contract transport/logistics services on behalf of the UK Service Business according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule and terms.
  • Initiate purchase orders according to purchase requisitions and in alignment with standard procedures.
  • Negotiate agreements with main suppliers and periodically renew price lists, terms and conditions.
  • Support the bid and proposal teams by providing relevant market information.
  • Oversee supplier performance (on‑time delivery, quality, lead time) and resolve performance issues.
  • Align supplier orders with customer requirements in terms of content, quality, delivery, sustainability and price.
  • Live core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.
  • Review and update supply chain practices in line with company policies, standards, laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical field; candidates from business management backgrounds will also be considered if supported by strong technical experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in HV business, sales, or market management desired.
  • Proven experience in leading teams and business units within cross‑functional organisations.
  • Strong track record in high‑voltage substations, EPC projects, or related technologies.
  • Good understanding of the UK energy market (National Grid, DNOs, EPCs).
  • Excellent communicator with fluency in English.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and internationally as required by the role.
