Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity as a Senior Technical Lead Engineer to support all engineering activities related to the Automation Scope of Medium and High Voltage Substations, including testing and commissioning activities of Substation Automation projects in PGGA United Kingdom (HUB Europe Region), based in Stone, Staffordshire. Reporting to the Lead Engineering Manager, you will drive excellence by ensuring that engineering, testing, and commissioning activities are efficiently and cost-effectively executed by meeting customer expectations, contract specifications, Hitachi Energy policies, quality standards, and safety requirements.
How you'll make an impact:
- Act as a technical lead and design authority for engineering deliverables across all applicable engineering disciplines.
- Coordinating all technical activities during the complete project cycle - including testing and commissioning.
- Working closely with customers to shape and deliver solutions and utilising feedback to drive the delivery of innovative improvements and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Working closely with colleagues and engineers across various disciplines, sharing technical knowledge and best practices across borders within the HUB Europe Region.
- Preparing the base design of substation automation systems, control, and protection.
- Verifying the implemented base design within the detailed design.
- Taking over aspects of detailed design engineering, testing, or commissioning activities related to the project needs.
- Supporting the Project Manager in costings to: submit estimations; issue claims related to changes in project scope; assess cost and time impacts, as well as risk implications.
- Providing technical details, financial information, and deliverables for sales proposals.
Your background:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
- Proven experience working within substation automation projects.
- Strong communication skills, fluency in English.
- Principal knowledge in SCADA, protection, communication protocols, and networks.
