The Jewel House and the White Tower are two of the major attractions at the Tower of London and the Warding Group is responsible for the security of the items contained within them, and for explaining their significance and history to our visitors. We are looking for an exceptional leader to join an already established and high-performing team.
We have an immediate vacancy for a Warding Group Team Leader.
Reporting to the Chief Warden, you will be working a shift pattern, which will include weekends and some Public Holidays. You will lead a team of Wardens, being responsible for their line management, performance, and development.
As a member of the management team, you will be proactive in ensuring that consistently high levels of visitor experience and security are always maintained within the Jewel House, White Tower, and its environs. You will be enrolled on the Duty Exhibitor roster which involves providing 24/7 cover within the Tower, with duty accommodation provided.
The successful candidate will work flexibly and think laterally , with a desire to assist our visitors in understanding the importance and role of the Crown Jewels and the White Tower within the life and history of the Nation. Preferably with previous experience of managing, leading and developing teams , you will stir the spirits of your team and visitors alike in one of the UK’s most visited attractions. Once appointed you will work within the Jewel House or the White Tower; The knowledge and passion to lead your team in both locations is required.
The ability to maintain high standards of performance within a busy and diverse team environment is essential. You will be required to act as a First Aider , with training provided. Previous experience of having worked in a high volume, customer-facing environment is desirable.
Please note that some evening, weekend, and Bank holiday working will be required for this role including working as the evening Duty Exhibitor.
