Salary: PR 11.6 – £28,909 per annum plus AHS and Shift allowance where applicable.

Days/Hours of work: There are 3 positions available, both full-time & part-time.

  • 1 x Security Officer (Days) Full-time 39.375 hours per week
  • 1 x Security Officer (Days/Nights) Full-time 39.375 hours per week
  • 0.5 x Security Officer (Days/Nights) Part-time 19.69 hours per week

Your role will be to support the team in making Hampton Court Palace a safe and secure place to work and visit, providing a professional, responsive, and vigilant security presence on site.

Tasks will include:

  • Control Room operations
  • Controlling pedestrian and vehicle access to the Palace
  • Monitoring CCTV and alarm systems
  • Responding to any escalated security incidents
  • Proactive patrolling throughout the buildings and grounds
  • Responding to fire alarm activations
  • Providing a safe and secure environment for visitors and staff

Security Officer Days: this position will involve working a day shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, with a 12-hour shift pattern from 06.30 to 18.30 for an average of 39.375 hours per week. Please also be aware that due to operational needs there may be a requirement to cover late shifts from 12.00 till 24.00 on occasions. Please also note that you will work across two teams within the 4 days.

Security Officer Days/Nights: this position will involve working a day/night shift pattern of 2-day shifts with a 12-hour shift pattern from 06.30 to 18.30 followed by 2-night shifts with a 12-hour shift pattern from 18.30 to 06.30 for an average of 39.375 hours per week. Please also note that you will work across one team for the 4 days.

Security Officer Days/Nights Part-Time: this position will involve alternate sets of 4 shifts working a day/night shift pattern of 2-day shifts with a 12-hour shift pattern from 06.30 to 18.30 followed by 2-night shifts with a 12-hour shift pattern from 18.30 to 06.30 for an average of 19.69 hours per week. Please also note that you will work across one team for the 4 days.

Applicants should have proven security experience in a similar role. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of basic security principles and an understanding of CCTV/Alarm and Fire systems. Evidence of skills development (SIA Training, Security Courses) is advantageous as is recent experience in dealing with emergency situations.

You will also be comfortable using technical systems and MS Office (Word and Excel). The role requires a good level of communication skills, verbal and written, for example for the maintaining of daily logs. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate self-motivation, self-development, reliability, and the ability to work alone as well as part of a team. A full driving licence is also required.

Salary: PR 11.6 – £28,909 per annum pro rata plus a 3.375 additional hours supplement (AHS) of £2,710.22 pa pro rata. The full-time Days/Nights role will also have a 15% shift applied at £4,336.55 per annum and this will be pro rata’d accordingly for the part-time role.
