Full time/Temporary (9 month contract)
We are a team of people who love and look after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world. These palaces are the setting for the stories that shape us all, and we’re bringing them to people in ways that mean more to them. We want everyone to find themselves in the spaces and stories we share.
As an independent charity, we are the custodians of almost 1,000 years of history, with an ambitious Public Engagement programme. Savvy PR strategies and media skills are vital to help us bring the story of the palaces and our work to the widest possible audience.
We are looking for a temporary Press Officer to help raise the profile of our charity and the work we do via impactful campaigns, filming, photography and media engagement.
Bringing enthusiasm, creativity and innovative ideas to this dynamic team, you’ll proactively manage your own PR projects and assist with all media relations and broadcast activity across our six HRP sites, covering everything from food festivals to family events, and gun salutes to garden tours.
You must be able to build and maintain effective media contacts, produce first-rate press resources and represent the organisation externally. Self-motivated, you will be a team player who has the ability to prioritise a competing workload and communicate effectively and confidently, as well as supporting other members of the team.
With excellent copy-writing skills, you’ll have a solid track record of structuring and managing press campaigns across traditional and new media, with a demonstrable experience in a similar PR environment. You’ll ideally have an understanding of the key issues facing the culture, heritage or tourism sectors and be able to demonstrate how you have proactively increased media coverage in previous posts. You will also have strong experience of “selling in” stories and be both tenacious and persuasive in your approach. In addition, you will be comfortable using your strong administrative and organisational skills to help the office run to maximum effect, delivering filming and photography shoots, live broadcasts and press events. If you’ve got what it takes to deliver this exciting challenge and join our team, we want to hear from you!
Occasional out of hours work in this role will be required.
Historic Royal Places is an equal opportunities employer and truly values a diverse workforce. Applications are welcome from candidates regardless of their background.
Salary: ÂŁ37,498 per annum plus allowances
