We are the independent charity that loves and looks after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world. The palaces are the setting for the stories that shape us all, and we are bringing them to people in ways that mean more to them.
We have a vacancy for a permanent Gardener to work in the historic gardens around Kensington Palace. These popular gardens include the impressive Edwardian Sunken Garden, containing the Princess of Wales statue which is admired by our visitors all year round. Although the gardens are small, they are varied with topiary, fine lawns, herbaceous borders and a wildflower meadow.
Working in a small team and with a keen eye for detail, you will have a passion for gardening and experience in basic horticultural maintenance tasks. A knowledge of plants, in particular the care of perennials, lawns and shrubs, is important, whilst an understanding of modern sustainability practices and a knowledge of garden biodiversity would also be useful.
Some experience of using a range of horticultural machinery, for example hedge trimmers and lawn mowers, will be helpful. We also want you to have qualifications to demonstrate your commitment to Horticulture; hopefully you will be working towards improving your horticultural knowledge to above RHS level 2 or 3. A driver's licence is not essential but would be beneficial.
