Summary
We are the public body that looks after England’s historic environment. We champion historic places, helping people understand, value and care for them. Historic England have a fantastic opportunity for you to join us as our Safety and Risk Senior Specialist.
This is a Full Time, Permanent post, with hybrid working. The location of this role is national with hybrid working; you will be based in one of the following offices and from home: Newcastle, York, Manchester, Birmingham, Swindon, and Bristol.
Salary: National – £39,590 pro rata

Responsibilities
As our Safety and Risk Senior Specialist, you will:
- Lead on the development of the health, safety and fire risk management systems within Historic England, helping ensure compliance, continual improvement and effective risk management.
- Act as a subject matter expert providing specialist advice and training on health and safety risk management.
- Maintain the organisation’s web-based health and safety risk management software system.
- Conduct periodic audits of health and safety practices.
- Deputise for the Head of Health and Safety as necessary.
Who we are looking for
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Experience of writing and developing concise and user-friendly health and safety management policies and procedures
- Experience providing health and safety guidance on small construction projects
- Experience of the management of health
- Experience of supporting managers undertaking health and safety risk assessments and developing safe systems of work
