HistologiX is a trusted GLP & GCP compliant CRO with expertise in tissue-based biomarker analysis. We help our clients visualise and understand how their drug or device is influencing key biomarkers at the cellular and tissue level. Working collaboratively, our experienced scientific team provides a bespoke service allowing our clients to make the most of our expertise in histology, immunohistochemistry (IHC) including multiplex immunofluorescence, in situ hybridisation (ISH) & cutting-edge digital image analysis (IA).

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a motivated Trainee Research Scientist to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career scientist to gain hands‑on experience in histology and IHC within a regulated CRO environment while receiving structured training and mentorship. You will support day‑to‑day laboratory operations while developing technical, analytical, and professional skills. You will be based in our laboratories in BioCity Nottingham during regular business hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake histology and immunohistochemistry projects.
  • Prepare samples, reagents and documentation according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Accurately record data and study documentation.
  • Work to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as well as all safety and other relevant quality standards.
  • Manage stock. Audit and organise supplies and chemicals.
  • Work closely with senior scientists and project teams.
  • Contribute to the development of SOPs and continuous improvement of working practices.

Requirements

  • A degree completed in the last five years in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Previous experience within a laboratory role is beneficial, preferably within a GLP environment.
  • Proficient IT skills - competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills, an effective team player with the ability to work efficiently to meet defined timelines and organise own workload.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work effectively in a cross‑disciplinary team.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Previous laboratory experience, especially in histology or IHC, is an advantage but not essential.
