HiSpeed Ltd. is a company based in Bicester, Oxfordshire, that specializes in designing, developing, and testing highly efficient compact electrical drives. The company's mission is to promote quality sustainable transportation by providing state-of-the-art, carbon-neutral electric propulsion components to eliminate transport CO2 emissions.
The Systems & Controls engineer will work together with HISPEED HW & Control team on the development of high-performance innovative electrical drive systems and control algorithms. The role involves the following:
- Definition of power electronics system requirements and test plans
- Development of system and motor control strategies in Matlab/Simulink environment
- Modelling and simulation electrical drives in Matlab/Simulink
- Autocoding with Simulink embedded coder
- Development of automatic testing tools/routines in Python or Matlab
- Test bench development and instrumentation
- Bench and dyno testing of power electronics and motor systems, including motor characterization and calibration processes
- Support to vehicle level testing
- Test data processing and reporting
Skills and experience
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience (automotive industry is a plus)
- MSc or PhD thesis on advanced motor or power electronics control algorithms e.g. sensorless motor control algorithms, different modulation techniques, control of multiphase electrical machines (desired)
- Previous experience with automotive system testing tools (CANalyzer, INCA, CANape)
- Previous experience in instrumentation and development of test benches
- Automotive V-cycle awareness
- Previous experience in classic & modern control theories
- Previous experience in signal processing and digital filtering
- Previous experience in development of state observers
- Previous experience with motor control algorithms for PMSM for automotive applications β MTPA, MTPV, FW
- Previous experience with motor control algorithms for Induction machines and wound synchronous machines (plus)
- Previous experience with power electronics e.g. traction inverters, DC/DC converters
- Previous experience in different modulation techniques applied to traction inverters
