About the Role
- Analysing and assessing submissions in respect of exposures and coverages and identifying and negotiating the best position for Swiss Re.
- Underwriting treaty reinsurance business for the various Marine classes including Cargo, Hull, Liability, Energy and PVT, including preparing quotations, offering proposals, wordings and clauses.
- Developing strategies to expand our position on current accounts and to cross‑sell other lines of business.
- Supporting LoB Head with portfolio strategy and initiatives.
- Sharing technical subject matter underwriting expertise with underwriters and providing regular trainings on overarching topics and LoB governance specific topics.
About You
- Minimum 7–10 years relevant experience in underwriting including a lead capacity and servicing reinsurance programmes.
- Strong background in building broker and client relationships.
- Proficiency in the use of underwriting tools and ability to interpret and judge the results.
- Ability to handle multiple deals in parallel without losing oversight.
- Strong commercial mindset combined with technical expertise.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Good level of energy and proactive behaviour.
About the Team
Our Global Specialty team consists of problem solvers driven by passion, powered by knowledge – and all of this with a good pinch of fun. With over 200 underwriters across 10+ offices, the team combines SR's dedicated Specialty lines of business in Reinsurance: Agriculture, Aviation, Credit & Surety, Cyber, Engineering and Marine & Energy.
The base salary range for this position is between £144,000 and £216,000 for a full‑time role. The specific salary offered considers the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role and the applicant's own profile including education, qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
