This role is based at Diageo's Shieldhall packaging site. Shieldhall packages a huge volume of Scotch malt whiskies, white spirits and ready to drink brands to supply over 170 countries around the world and is a key manufacturing site within the Scotch supply category. As a Mechanical Engineer within our team at Shieldhall, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective maintenance, repair, problem-solving, and improvement of all mechanical assets to maximize their availability across the site.
Key responsibilities:- Collaborate with operations teams, CAPEX, and other maintenance groups to drive operational performance and improvements.
- Engage with operations teams and maintenance personnel to deliver and review mandatory and requested maintenance with minimal production impact, ensuring the availability of spare parts for scheduled maintenance tasks.
- Implement and develop maintenance programs aimed at supporting and improving asset performance and utilization.
- Respond promptly to plant breakdowns, identifying and repairing root causes to minimize downtime.
- Report maintenance outcomes via SAP to ensure the sharing of best practices.
- Uphold health and safety compliance and maintaining high-quality standards in all aspects of work.
Health and safety compliance is key, and you will be at the forefront of making sure this is monitored alongside ensuring both site and personal KPIs are achieved.
Shifts:As a Weekend Mechanical Engineer, you will work Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7 am to 7 pm with rotating nights from 7 pm to 7 am.

Key skills and experience:- Relevant qualifications and have demonstrable knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and environmental risk principles.
- Experience in a production/FMCG environment desirable.
- Can work well within a team as well as the ability to make effective decisions and thrive in situations where they can solve problems.
- Able to push forward your own ideas about improvements to current approaches and appraise new opportunities.
- A desire to make a positive difference to manufacturing excellence.
