About the Role

As a Paralegal with Sedgwick Legal Services (SLS), you will support the team in handling property damage claims, including fires, floods, building collapses, water escapes and subsidence. Your work will involve updating case management systems, tracking key diary dates, conducting claim investigations, gathering evidence, obtaining witness statements, and ensuring that technical reports support causation. You will work alongside Partners, Associates, and Team Leaders in complex litigation and help develop systems that integrate SLS into Sedgwick’s digital infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Update case management systems and track key diary dates.
  • Assist with claim investigations, gather evidence, and obtain witness statements.
  • Ensure technical reports support causation and collect relevant contractual documents.
  • Support complex litigation while ensuring compliance with client protocols.
  • Contribute to the development of integrated SLS digital systems.

Qualifications

  • Professional Qualifications: Preferably a degree or previous relevant legal experience.
  • Expertise: Knowledge of the litigation process is desirable.
  • Contract and Tort Knowledge: Good working knowledge of general contract and tortious principles.
  • Motor Insurance Law: Willingness to learn insurance‑based motor law.
  • Technical Knowledge: Willingness to learn the technical aspects of motor claims investigations.
  • Team Orientation: Team‑orientated with a willingness to share knowledge and support other members.
  • Commercial Perspective: Ability to adopt a commercial perspective rather than an academic approach to claims settlement.
