Underwriting Performance Analyst

London based with Hybrid working

The role:

Working for the Group CUO and reporting to the Group Underwriting Performance and Strategy Lead, you will support core underwriting reporting as well as strategic projects. The aim is to deliver the right visibility to the Group CUO to enable focussed conversations on key areas. Ultimately driving constant course correction. The role has a significant business partnering aspect with a need to truly understand what is driving the business result.

About the Group Underwriting Insights team:

The team runs the Group CUO office and collaborates with key stakeholders to support the delivery of the business plan loss ratio and strategic priorities for the Group CUO. They work with underwriting management teams across the global portfolio, from small personal lines to large catastrophe reinsurance deals.

What you will be doing:

• Analyze underwriting performance across the global portfolio
• Identify risks and opportunities; collaborate with stakeholders to implement strategic actions
• Develop new analysis tools and insights for underwriting teams, including portfolio monitoring, segmentation, trend analysis, and exposure tracking
• Ensure data requirements are well-communicated and analysis is seamless
• Explore new methods and data sources to enhance analysis
• Maintain feedback with stakeholders and support underwriting team upskilling
• Participate in external market events for new ideas

Core skillset:

• 3-5 years in Insurance, with experience in at least 2 markets Hiscox operates in
• Ability to network with stakeholders at all levels
• Resilience under pressure
• Highly organized and able to coordinate across teams
• Curious and insightful questioning
• Attention to detail
• Strong Excel skills
• Concise communication skills
• Understanding of insurance P&L
