The Team: The Med Mal underwriting team is based across our York, London, and Colchester offices. They are responsible for driving profitable growth across Hiscox UK in the Allied Healthcare sector, supporting brokers and expanding the medical malpractice book.
The Role: This role involves joining our specialist Med Mal underwriting team to develop and expand underwriting scope, working with a diverse team, and developing individuals' knowledge in new areas. The role includes UK-based travel, developing new opportunities, and servicing existing accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite consistently and profitably.
- Develop effective relationships with brokers.
- Negotiate with internal and external parties.
- Maintain and develop customer relations.
- Visit broker partners and write their business.
- Challenge non-standard underwriting decisions within TUG, referring to managers when needed.
- Identify and improve non-performing broker accounts.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum five years relevant Medical Malpractice underwriting or broking experience.
- ACII qualification or progress towards it.
- Drive, motivation, and results-oriented attitude.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
- Team player, outgoing, confident.
- Ability to challenge the status quo and make logical decisions.
- Degree qualified or minimum 2 A levels at grade C or above (preferred but not mandatory).
