The Team
Our Schemes team creates and manages tailored insurance solutions, working closely with brokers to develop bespoke packages and identify new business opportunities. They handle the entire process from concept to implementation, providing ongoing support.
The Role
As a Schemes Underwriter, you will be a key part of our team, delivering customized solutions for niche customer groups managed by our broker partners. You will work on existing schemes, collaborating with underwriting, operations, sales, and leadership to drive growth and improve profitability. Your role includes underwriting, servicing broker relationships, and shaping underwriting strategies.
What you’ll be doing:
- Deliver exceptional service to brokers, handling referrals and complex cases
- Work with sector leads to ensure profitable growth of schemes
- Challenge conventions and suggest strategies for growth
- Stay updated on sector risks to maintain market leadership
- Assist in developing new products and maximizing portfolio opportunities
- Mentor and develop junior team members
- Shape underwriting strategies to meet business ambitions
- Manage relationships with key broker partners
- Operate within the Consumer sub-sector
Candidate Profile
Must-haves:
- Confident decision-making in complex situations
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Experience in Schemes underwriting, especially property, contractors, and consumer products (preferred)
- ACII qualification or progressing towards it (preferred)
- Ability to analyze and recommend underwriting decisions
- Interest in becoming a sector expert
- Negotiation and influencing skills
- Open to new ideas and risk-taking
