The Lead Business Architect is a strategic and technical role focused on aligning business capabilities, processes, and operating models with the London Market technology architecture. This role ensures that technology investments deliver measurable business outcomes, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across the business unit.

You will define business architecture frameworks, model capabilities and value streams, and work closely with Solution Architects and other stakeholders to guide transformation initiatives. The Business Architect provides an enterprise-level perspective, shaping architectural decisions that impact multiple products and systems, while complementing Product Managers by providing strategic context and architectural guardrails.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business-Technology Alignment
    • Develop and maintain business capability maps, value streams, and operating models that inform technology decisions.
    • Ensure technology solutions support strategic objectives, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
    • Partner with Solution Architects to validate that designs meet both functional and non-functional business requirements.
  • Technical Influence & Governance
    • Define and own business architecture principles, embedding them in solution design and delivery.
    • Contribute to data architecture discussions, ensuring consistency in data models and integration patterns.
    • Support API strategy and interoperability between business systems and platforms.
    • Ensure alignment with Lloyd’s market standards and industry transformation programmes such as Blueprint Two.
  • Transformation & Change Enablement
    • Shape target operating models for transformation programmes, ensuring alignment with Group Technology standards.
    • Develop and maintain outcome-based roadmaps linked to measurable business KPIs.
    • Identify capability gaps and propose technology-enabled solutions to close them.
    • Provide impact analysis for major technology changes across business processes and systems.
    • Lead adoption of new operating models, ensuring business readiness and stakeholder engagement.
  • Financial & Commercial Awareness
    • Provide cost-benefit analysis and input into investment decisions for transformation initiatives.
    • Influence budgeting and prioritisation to ensure architectural initiatives deliver maximum business value.
  • Collaboration
    • Work closely with Product Managers to ensure business capability models complement product roadmaps, enabling coherent delivery across the portfolio.
    • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to ensure alignment between enterprise architecture and delivery plans.

    • Experience in data modelling, integration patterns, and API-driven architectures.
