Build a brilliant future with Hiscox
Group Information and Intelligence Analyst
Reporting to the Group Marketing Director
London based with Hybrid working
The Role
We are looking for a driven, innovative and technologically/AI literate individual with a genuine passion and mastery of Information and Trends.
Information is a broad term and at Hiscox would encompass market and competitor intelligence, consumer and business trends.
If you are confident in expressing your opinions, excited by a challenging and wide variety of work, plus, have excellent experience (client side), then this role could be for you. If you prefer something a bit more ‘routine’ and an easy life, this might not be your bag.
This varied and challenging new role has the main responsibility of leading and delivering the information and trends needed by our Retail Business, covering our Direct insurance business (both home and small business) as well as our Brokered insurance offering.
Your role will be to mine the market and customer data gold that will build and scale our propositions of the future. You will be as comfortable working alone as you will be telling the CEO why and how your insight can change our business. You will take a brief as well as you can deliver one. All done in a human, productive, smart yet arrogant free environment.
The Team
You will be part of the Group Marketing Research & Insights team, yet you will work directly with our new Group Propositions team.
You must be able synthesise and translate data and information to drive proposition development and modelling. You will be adept at storytelling, bringing information to life and influencing senior stakeholders. You will be equally comfortable rolling your sleeves up and getting into the data yourself. This is not a role in a Research empire. We are scrappy, quick and challenging.
You are an early adopter of all things technology and AI and have proven experience of driving ever better results through the combination of data, analysis and technological development.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver our global customer and market insight work. You will be responsible for the delivery of specific market, competitor and customer insights across multiple territories that will inform and support the build of new customer propositions.
  • Build scalable processes using appropriate technology to track competitor product development and use insight to feed the Hiscox product roadmap. You will create an insights framework and work with technology colleagues to identify the best fit technologies that make for an effective and repeatable approach to global insights projects.
  • Respond to specific briefs from Underwriting colleagues to unearth, validate and shed light on potential opportunities – whether product, market and/or customer driven.
  • You will work closely with Hiscox technology teams to embed technology and AI efficiency and effectiveness across all our Insight work.
Person Specification
  • Strong research and insights skills from either Client-side (desirable) or Agency side. Previous information supplier experience would also be beneficial. Experience of gathering and presenting e.g. Market Insight, Customer sentiment data to help shape strategy and decision making
  • The ability to create insights from information and trends, with the goal of always providing a business benefit. Must have a commercial outlook.
  • Competent in managing information providers
  • Comfortable using a variety of sources such as Statista and GlobalData as well as other freely available external data sets e.g. National Statistics, Future Trends reports, and internal data e.g. sales data, claims data, customer data, research data etc.
  • Able to pull information from various sources of information and be able to tell the customer story/or distil the insights into a coherent story.
  • Has gravitas to engage, influence and lead stakeholders from across the business
  • Is confident in expressing opinions and be willing to challenge and be challenged.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • A “can do” attitude and be able to think on your feet. Possesses a keen interest and enthusiasm for understanding our customers and be their advocate in the business.
  • Numerate and commercially minded with the ability to interpret information and trends, and their impact on the business considering the market context.
  • A background spanning different sectors is also highly advantageous.
  • An understanding and experience of working across multiple territories
About Hiscox
As an international specialist insurer we are far removed from the world of mass market insurance products. Instead we are selective and focus on our key areas of expertise and strength - all of which is underpinned by a culture that encourages us to challenge convention and always look for a better way of doing things.
We insure the unique and the interesting. And we search for the same when it comes to talented people. Hiscox is full of smart, reliable human beings that look out for customers and each other. We believe in doing the right thing, making good and rebuilding when things go wrong. Everyone is encouraged to think creatively, challenge the status quo and look for solutions.
Scratch beneath the surface and you will find a business that is solid, but slightly contrary. We like to do things differently and constantly seek to evolve. We might have been around for a long time (our roots go back to 1901), but we are young in many ways, ambitious and going places.
Some people might say insurance is dull, but life at Hiscox is anything but. If that sounds good to you, get in touch.
Diversity and Hybrid working
At Hiscox we care about our people. We hire the best people for the job and we’re committed to diversity and creating a truly inclusive culture, which we believe drives success.
We have also learned over the past few years that working life doesn’t always have to be in the office, and now it is safe to do so we have introduced hybrid working to encourage a healthy work life balance.
This hybrid working model is set by the team rather than the business to enable you to manage your own personal work-life balance. We see it as the best of both worlds; structure and sociability on one hand, and independence and flexibility on the other.
Work with amazing people and be part of a unique culture
