The Role
You’ll be joining our Property Claims team as we strive to further enhance and develop the service we offer to our customers whilst building the technical capability of the team. As an in-house claims specialist you will be responsible for delivering a trusted, superior claims service to our customers as you support them and help mitigate and resolve the impact of significant insured events. You will have extensive experience in handling high value property claims for both commercial and private clients alongside the strong influencing and communication skills required to engage a broad variety of stakeholders and inspire confidence in our customers during their time of need.
You’ll thrive on being accountable and have your own caseload of major and complex property and business interruption claims, handling these claims from cradle to grave, delivering an exceptional quality and pro-active claims service to our clients and brokers, whilst maintaining and enhancing the Hiscox reputation and brand. Whilst site visits to meet our customers and understand the impact of the loss will be encouraged, you will be primarily desk based in this role. This may mirror your current role, or perhaps you’re currently doing a field-based role and looking for some more work life balance, maybe you want to work for a company who truly puts the customer first, empathising and dealing with the claim in the fairest way possible.
While reporting to the Major and Complex Loss Claims Manager on a day-to-day basis, you will also have direct access to senior underwriters, the Head of Property Claims and the Head of Claims for Hiscox UK.
What you’ll be doing:
- Pro-actively managing a portfolio of HNW household and commercial claims ranging from £100,000 to millions of pounds, working in partnership with our suppliers, experts and appointed Loss Adjusters.
- Helping customers in their greatest time of need – many of the claims which come to the Major and Complex Loss Team are significant both in value and the impact on the customer’s life. There is a real need to show empathy and flexibility of approach to achieve the best outcomes and really ‘wow’ the customer.
- Dictating the strategy on your portfolio of claims, demonstrating the ability to make good decisions, delivering exceptional service whilst monitoring accurate reserving and controlling claims spend to ensure the best outcome for us and our customers.
- Building fantastic working relationships with internal colleagues, Loss Adjusters and other chosen external partners.
- Taking ownership of stakeholder management, communicating regularly with the customer; the broker; the relevant Underwriter, Property Claims Management Team and the Head of UK Claims.
- Providing real time Trilogy feedback to our underwriters and wordings team to assist them in management of their own portfolios, risk management and product development.
- Acting as a senior referral point for colleagues, helping them determine the best strategy and coverage positions on claims outside their authority.
- Take a leading role in wider coaching, training and mentoring initiatives in the department as we seek to grow and develop our talent.
Candidate Profile
Our must-haves:
- Extensive experience and a proven track record in handling high value and complex household, commercial property and business interruption claims from either an insurer or loss adjusting background.
- Completed DipCII and DipCILA examinations or commitment to complete them.
