The predicted salary is between 50000 - 70000 £ per year.

We are looking to join the Property Binders team as an Underwriter, focusing on the High Value and Ultra-High Value Homes segment of our portfolio. The role involves underwriting across a range of property lines including household, commercial property, flood and major property.

Responsibilities

  • Management of binding authorities and broker relationships
  • Underwriting of referrals at the box, in brokers' offices, or digitally
  • Support the development of our products and refinement of our pricing
  • Underwriting new and existing risks presented to Hiscox
  • Develop new business across the US, Canada and Caribbean
  • Support in further development of our underwriting system, control processes and reporting suite
  • Attend client meetings and events to grow industry knowledge and sell the Hiscox brand
  • Contribute to wordings and contract review process
  • Support with portfolio management and business planning
  • Conduct market and industry research to develop knowledge

Qualifications

  • Previous high-value home underwriting experience
  • Previous delegated property experience
  • US/Canada experience preferred
  • International underwriting experience is beneficial
  • Experience as a lead market is favourable
  • Strong mathematical literacy and interest in technical aspects of underwriting and pricing
  • Confident communicator with demonstrable communication skills both oral and written
  • Strong track record of working successfully in a team
  • Understanding of catastrophe models and their impact in writing single risks or a portfolio of risks would be favourable
  • Interest in data analytics
  • ACII qualification or good progress towards
  • Innovative mindset and ability to prioritise work and manage effectively under pressure
