We are recruiting an FP&A Cost / Business Partnering Analyst to support the delivery of high‑quality cost reporting, analysis and insight across the business. The role works closely with Finance Business Partners and business stakeholders to explain cost performance, support forecasting and planning activity, and improve the quality, consistency and usability of expense reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost reporting and analysis: Prepare regular cost reporting and analysis for business areas, including actuals, forecast, budget and prior-year comparisons. Investigate and explain key cost variances, trends and movements. Support the production of monthly management information and business review packs. Maintain cost reporting templates, trackers and reconciliations. Help improve the consistency, accuracy and usefulness of cost reporting.
- Forecasting, budgeting and planning: Support Finance Business Partners with forecast and budget cycles. Gather inputs from business stakeholders and help challenge assumptions. Analyse run‑rate trends, cost drivers and risks or opportunities. Maintain planning models and support scenario analysis where required. Ensure planning outputs are accurate, timely and clearly explained. Support cost allocation driver update processes and explanations to the Business & Business Unit stakeholders.
- Business partnering support: Work with Finance Business Partners to support cost centre owners and senior stakeholders. Prepare materials for business performance reviews. Translate financial data into clear messages and actionable insight. Respond to stakeholder queries on cost performance, coding, allocations and reporting. Build effective relationships with finance and non‑finance colleagues.
- Month‑end and financial control: Support month‑end review activities, including accruals, prepayments, journals and cost coding checks. Perform reconciliations and data validation to ensure reporting accuracy. Identify anomalies or issues in cost data and work with relevant teams to resolve them. Support process documentation and controls where needed.
- Process improvement and data: Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise or automate recurring reporting and analysis. Support improvements to data quality, reporting definitions and cost categorisation. Help develop more efficient ways of working across FP&A and business partnering. Use Excel, Power BI or other finance/reporting tools to improve insight and efficiency.
Candidate Profile
- Finance, accounting or analytical background, ideally within FP&A, management reporting or business partnering.
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
- Experience producing management information, variance analysis or cost reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with large or complex datasets.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly.
- Comfortable working to deadlines, particularly around month‑end and planning cycles.
- Proactive, curious and willing to get into the detail.
- Ability to build relationships with finance and non‑finance stakeholders.
