The role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic PMO Manager to join the Programme Management Office for a large strategic programme at Hiscox. This role is essential in ensuring the successful delivery of a high-profile, multi-year transformation spanning multiple business units. You will be responsible for the operational management of the PMO, ensuring effective governance, planning, reporting, and best practices, supporting programme leadership, and aligning with strategic objectives. Your role is crucial in delivering the programme with discipline, transparency, and control.

What you’ll be doing

PMO Governance

  • Collaborate with the Programme Director to manage the programme effectively.
  • Oversee daily operations of the PMO, ensuring governance, controls, and reporting are effective.
  • Develop and maintain programme plans, RAID logs, dashboards, and KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with delivery frameworks and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) and quality standards.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a key liaison among programme leadership, delivery teams, and senior stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present reports and updates for steering committees and executive boards.
  • Support resource planning, capacity management, and budget tracking.
  • Monitor financial performance with accurate forecasting and reporting.
  • Identify, assess, and manage programme risks and issues proactively.
  • Implement mitigation plans and manage escalations effectively.
  • Drive continuous improvement in PMO processes, tools, and templates.
  • Promote a culture of delivery excellence and knowledge sharing.

Our must haves

  • Over 5 years of experience as a PMO Manager or Senior PMO Analyst in large, complex programmes, preferably within insurance or financial services, but not mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of programme governance, portfolio management, project management best practices, and delivery methodologies.
  • Experience with both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Proven understanding of the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of working with all levels within and outside the business.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and working in matrix environments.
  • Familiarity with PMO tools such as MS Project, JIRA, Confluence, Power BI, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Creative, proactive, logical, and innovative mindset, willing to challenge the status quo.
  • Highly results-driven with energy and determination to succeed in a fast-paced environment where responsiveness and leadership are key.
