As a member of the Specialty Marketing, Media and Creative Sector team, you will drive profitable growth and accelerate the Media sector book across the UK and internationally. You will lead underwriting, develop new opportunities and manage a high‐performing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead underwriting by managing complex risks and detailed referrals.
- Accountable for ensuring top‐line and bottom‐line growth hits budget.
- Identify, investigate and develop new growth opportunities through pricing, product and distribution.
- Use data to identify underwriting trends, create rules and improve processes.
- Develop and grow strategic relationships with brokers, associations and buying groups.
- Inspire, coach and develop underwriters through targeted training.
- Stay abreast of new risks and exposures to maintain a market‐leading position.
- Maintain policy wordings, technical underwriting guides and customer‐facing materials.
- Provide thought leadership internally and externally.
- Maintain in‐depth knowledge of competitors, products, and market trends.
- Lead, manage and develop the Specialty media underwriters.
- Increase Hiscox's media sector profile internally and externally.
- Forge strong professional relationships with key brokers.
- Monitor competitive landscape for market moves and product launches.
- Promote and develop media products in regional offices, including training local staff.
- Maintain a deep understanding of broker needs and development opportunities.
Candidate Profile
- 10+ years' experience underwriting media business with a proven track record across all product lines.
- Proven business development and profitable growth record.
- Passion for the media sector.
- Excellent technical underwriting skills and attention to detail.
- Results‐driven with strong data analysis and communication skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship‐building abilities.
- Experience managing heavy workloads and shifting priorities.
- Analytical, proactive, creative, and able to think outside the box.
- Ability to distil complex issues into clear strategies.
- Consistent demonstration of behaviours that achieve personal and team objectives.
- Prior leadership experience delivering results through others.
- Degree qualified is helpful but not required; ACII qualification or equivalent exempt through experience.
