The role involves working within the wider Schemes team to deliver Schemes solutions across the UK retail business. You will ensure that we deliver market leading service across your scheme panel and work with the wider Schemes Team across underwriting, operations, sales, and senior leadership to drive improvement and profitable growth of our schemes portfolio.
You will have responsibility for dealing with the schemes business, including underwriting and servicing our schemes partner brokers, while also helping to shape our wider underwriting strategy and growth.
What you’ll be doing:
- Delivering exceptional service to our brokers, dealing with referrals and writing more complex business.
- In conjunction with the Sector lead and schemes underwriting team, be responsible and accountable for the profitable growth of schemes.
- Challenge convention regularly, suggesting and executing effective growth and portfolio underwriting strategies to ensure sustained profitable growth.
- Keep abreast of new risks and exposures within our chosen sectors to maintain Hiscox's market leading position.
- Work with the Sector lead around shaping and driving the underlying underwriting strategy and portfolio of business to deliver our ambitions.
- Take underwriting ownership, relationship management, and accountability for some of our key strategic broker partners.
- Operate within our Media, Entertainment, Property Owners, and Sport Sector with a focus on Media and Entertainment.
Our must-haves:
- Experience in the schemes / delegated authority space, or strong experience within an open market underwriting environment.
- Experience within the media sector or broader media & entertainment space is strongly preferred.
- Proven commercial underwriting experience (ideally within property, liability or combined business).
- Ability to make confident decisions in complex underwriting scenarios, including cases outside of authority.
- ACII qualification or progression towards.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with brokers and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Confident influencing and negotiation skills.
- Interest in developing expertise within a specialist sector.
- Open to new ideas, innovation, and considered risk-taking.
