Role purpose
The Senior MI Analyst ensures Operations receives accurate, consistent, trusted Management Information (MI). Working as part of the MI team and alongside Data Engineering, the role safeguards the stability and credibility of the existing Power BI reporting estate during a period of change.
Key responsibilities
- Trusted operational MI
- Own the integrity of operational MI: validate accuracy, maintain agreed definitions, and ensure outputs are consistent across teams and forums.
- Provide operational leaders with clear, decision-ready reporting and a coherent performance narrative.
- MI ownership, quality & team working
- Share responsibility for MI quality and integrity, validating data and challenging inconsistencies.
- Investigate and resolve MI issues and anomalies with MI peers, escalating where needed.
- Maintain documentation that supports shared understanding, auditability, and team resilience.
- Reporting & insight delivery
- Maintain and refine MI reports and dashboards, supporting agreed reporting cycles (daily/weekly/monthly).
- Handle BAU MI queries and explain trends and drivers in clear, accessible language.
- Collaboration with Data Engineering
- Partner with Data Engineering to resolve data quality issues and understand upstream changes.
- Support effective hand-offs between data pipelines, models, and MI outputs, providing MI/operational feedback.
- Governance & consistency
- Uphold MI governance standards (KPI definitions, calculation logic, and change control).
- Reduce metric drift and duplication by acting as a point of reference for operational measures and governance forums.
- Continuous improvement (stability-led)
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise, and strengthen MI in collaboration with the team.
- Improve clarity, usability, and performance of reporting while protecting stability and trust.
Candidate Profile
Significant experience delivering operational MI in a team-based function, with a strong focus on accuracy and consistency. Power BI experience (data models, DAX, report maintenance) and strong SQL for validation, investigation, and reconciliation. Proven ability to work collaboratively with MI peers and data specialists to resolve issues and maintain shared standards. Comfortable in BAU environments where reliability and collective ownership are critical. Team player who values shared standards and collective success. Calm and dependable in business-critical MI environments. Confident challenging data quality issues constructively. Clear communicator with technical colleagues and operational leaders; pragmatic and delivery focused.
Desirable experience
Operational/Service/Contact Centre MI experience. Experience partnering with Data Engineering or central data teams. Familiarity with MI governance or performance management frameworks.
