About the team / Division

The London Market Claims team are driven, diverse and ready for anything. We work closely with our underwriters to ensure that there is a clear, open and transparent relationship with our customers and brokers from the very beginning. We are looking for a market-facing person who can be a part of a strong team, maintaining their own portfolio of complex claims within a financial authority and contributing to the Hiscox offering; always looking for a better way.

The Role

This role will predominantly handle claims generated from the Power and Renewables and Upstream Energy account. The Hiscox Energy proposition is growing rapidly both in terms of premium income and leadership footprint. We are seeking a driven candidate who can work with our underwriters and the rest of the claims team to define our claims service proposition. This will include a dynamic client facing role and an ability to work as a joined up team to achieve the united vision.

What you’ll be doing

  • Independently handling a portfolio of Power and Renewable and Upstream Energy claims.
  • Supporting more junior members of staff from a technical referral and/or mentor perspective.
  • Assisting the Claims Manager with regular technical reporting and key stakeholder liaison.
  • Participating in the quarterly account review and reserving process.
  • Working with underwriters and claims colleagues to add value, build our brand and win and retain business.
  • Supporting the Claims Manager in designing and implementing our claims service proposition.
  • Travel for settlement meetings, client liaison and conferences.
  • Interacting with key internal and external stakeholders on claims related matters.

The ideal Candidate

  • A significant level of experience handling Energy claims, ideally 7 years or more within the London Market and at either an insurer, loss adjusting firm or broking house.
  • An excellent market reputation and established relationships in the energy insurance industry.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • A confident communicator with demonstrable communication skills both oral and written.
  • A willingness to travel.
  • Someone who can analyse complex issues but is also pragmatic, commercial and solution orientated.
  • An ability to use own initiative and confidence in making decisions.
  • Ability to question the norm and seek ‘a better way’.
  • Good mathematical skills and report writing capability.
