We are seeking an experienced Senior Application Specialist to play a key role in the design, development, support and continuous improvement of our Microsoft business application estate. This role is focused on Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform but requires a broader technology background and strong engineering mindset. We are looking for someone who understands not just how to configure business applications, but how they fit into wider enterprise architecture, integration patterns, software delivery practices and operational support models. The successful candidate will act as a senior technical contributor within the platform team, helping shape solutions, drive quality and mentor less experienced colleagues. They will be comfortable working across the full application lifecycle, from requirements and solution design through to deployment, support and optimisation. Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and enhance solutions across Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Power Platform.
- Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects and Engineers to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Provide technical leadership during solution design, development and delivery activities.
- Ensure solutions are maintainable, secure, performant and aligned with enterprise standards.
- Identify opportunities to maximise platform capabilities while minimising unnecessary customisation.
Technical Leadership
- Act as a senior technical specialist for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform technologies.
- Review designs, configurations and development work produced by other team members.
- Provide mentoring, coaching and technical guidance to junior colleagues.
- Promote engineering best practice, knowledge sharing and continual improvement across the team.
- Support the development of standards, patterns and reusable platform assets.
Application Support & Continuous Improvement
- Lead investigation and resolution of complex application issues.
- Perform root cause analysis and drive long-term corrective actions.
- Monitor platform health, performance, security and adoption.
- Support upgrades, releases and platform lifecycle management activities.
- Work with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for automation and optimisation.
Engineering & Delivery Practices
- Champion modern software delivery practices across the platform.
- Contribute to source control, branching strategies, release management and DevOps processes.
- Support CI/CD pipeline development and automation where appropriate.
- Ensure appropriate documentation, technical standards and governance controls are maintained.
- Contribute to technical decision-making and roadmap planning.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Significant hands-on experience with Dynamics 365, ideally including Customer Service, Sales or related applications.
- Strong experience building solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, including: Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse.
- Strong understanding of application architecture and solution design principles.
- Experience integrating business applications with external systems and services.
- Knowledge of APIs, web services and integration patterns.
- Experience working with data models, security models and application lifecycle management.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
Engineering Practices
- Experience using Azure DevOps or similar tooling for work management and software delivery.
- Experience with source control technologies such as Git.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, release management and deployment automation.
- Familiarity with testing practices and quality assurance approaches.
- Appreciation of secure-by-design and operational support principles.
Professional Experience
- Broad technology background beyond Dynamics and Power Platform.
- Experience working within enterprise environments supporting business-critical applications.
- Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes.
- Experience collaborating with business and technical stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
- Experience mentoring, coaching or developing less experienced colleagues.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience with Microsoft Azure services.
- Experience developing custom components, plugins or integrations for Dynamics 365.
- Knowledge of Power Platform Centre of Excellence (CoE) practices.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI or data engineering concepts.
- Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
- Microsoft certifications across Dynamics 365, Power Platform or Azure technologies.
- Exposure to automation technologies including RPA and AI-enabled solutions.
