We are looking for a global leader to join the Group Claims Function and lead the Claims recoveries and salvage operations across the Group. This is a new and exciting opportunity to join Hiscox and make a real difference in a key area of our claims process. You will be responsible for leading global recoveries and salvage operations and defining and executing the group-wide strategy as well as building scalable solutions that align to growth ambitions across the group. You will also be responsible for managing relationships with our vendors globally and overseeing all recovery efforts including pursuing and monitoring overpayments.
With Hiscox's diverse technology landscape, a clear vision on simplifying processes through innovation and strategic alignment to support positive customer outcomes is necessary as our business grows. You will be interacting with both Senior and Executive level stakeholders across the organisation; influencing others and critical thinking will be key to overcoming challenges where there is misalignment. The ability to think creatively but be able to effectively implement solutions and deliver through others to get results will be key skills you possess.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead global operations, partner with vendors and business units, embed governance frameworks, and drive innovation through technology, analytics, AI and scalable solutions.
- Develop and implement strategies to maximise claim recoveries and minimise leakage.
- Represent the Group in industry forums, maintaining awareness of emerging risks and best practices.
- Champion governance and controls to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and external/internal policies.
- Drive innovation through technology, AI, and advanced analytics to enhance recovery processes.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and subrogation specialists, to optimise outcomes.
- Drive alignment globally across business units through process improvements and technology solutions.
- Deliver KPIs related to recovery rates and operational efficiency.
- Implement governance frameworks and controls across all recovery operations.
- Report performance and strategic progress to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
- Support and develop teams through coaching, training programmes, and clear objectives.
- Ownership for maintaining and enhancing recoveries processes, training and adherence to these across claims globally.
Skills/Qualifications/Experience required
- Extensive experience in claims subrogation and salvage in a global capacity (10+ years, with leadership roles). Those with less years but the right level of knowledge will naturally be considered.
- Strong knowledge of insurance laws, regulations, and commercial lines products across all geographies.
- Proven ability to lead teams and deliver through others.
- Exceptional global communication and stakeholder management abilities with intercultural competence.
- Exposure to recoveries monitoring systems (in-house or vendors) with a good understanding of how to transform and/or implement within an organisation and 3rd party suppliers.
- Proficiency in relevant software and reporting tools, with strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Resilience and adaptability to lead through change.
- Deliver results under pressure.
- Strategic thinking combined with operational execution capability.
- Excellent analytical skills, leveraging data and insights to drive decisions.
- Expertise in technology and innovation, including AI and machine learning applications.
About Hiscox
As an international specialist insurer, we are far removed from the world of mass market insurance products. At Hiscox we care about our people. We hire the best people for the job, and we are committed to diversity and creating a truly inclusive culture, which we believe drives success. Working life does not always have to be in the office so we have introduced hybrid working to encourage a healthy work-life balance.
