In this senior legal business partner role, you will serve as lead employment lawyer for Hiscox, advising on employment, labour relations, workforce change, investigations and people-related risk across the Group. You will partner with HR, Risk, Compliance and local legal teams to support strategic decision-making and protect the business. You will manage sensitive matters, cross-border issues and senior leadership engagements, balancing legal rigor with pragmatic commercial judgment. This role offers influence across the global Legal function and opportunities to shape workforce governance.

Responsibilities
- Strategic business partnering with Group General Counsel, Chief People Officer and senior stakeholders on employment and workforce matters
- Provide commercially pragmatic legal advice to support strategic decisions and manage risk
- Lead significant people-related projects including restructurings, hiring, exits, and cross-border initiatives
- Advise on a wide range of employment law issues including discipline, grievances, discrimination and settlement agreements
- Oversee investigations, whistleblowing, and sensitive personnel matters with confidentiality and clear documentation
- Policy governance and regulatory alignment of employment-related policies and guidance
- Drive legal operations improvements (templates, playbooks, triage, external counsel management)
- Mentor colleagues and promote knowledge sharing across the global Legal function and People teams
Key requirements
- Qualified solicitor or equivalent with substantial post-qualification experience
- Strong employment law experience in private practice and/or in-house
- Experience advising on complex employee relations, investigations, restructurings and disputes
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and provide commercially focused legal advice
- Experience with cross-border employment matters and managing external counsel
- Experience in financial services, insurance or regulated environments
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills
- Strong organisational skills and sound judgement in risk management
